Māshzbeiē̼ Se (Māshz /bej̼/ [damage] [drought]) is a temperate Large Town located in the Nijhobbub Region of the Tetbur Commune.

The name Māshzbeiē̼ Se is derived from the Tauric language, as Māshzbeiē̼ Se was founded by Robert Wiegold, who was culturaly Tauric.

Climate

Māshzbeiē̼ Se has a yearly average temperature of 28°C (82°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a hot 32°C (89°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 24°C (75°F). Māshzbeiē̼ Se receives an average of 258 cm/y (101 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Māshzbeiē̼ Se covers an area of nearly 6 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 636 m (2086 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Māshzbeiē̼ Se was founded durring the early 19th century in late winter of the year 1840, by Robert Wiegold. The establishment of Māshzbeiē̼ Se was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Robert Wiegold struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish Māshzbeiē̼ Se as a prison colony.

Māshzbeiē̼ Se was built using the conventions of Tauric durring the early 19th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Māshzbeiē̼ Se is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Māshzbeiē̼ Se is buildings are arranged arrounded highly ordered system of crampt flagstone streets which form hexical paterns, allowing the incides of the octagons to be common grounds for the buildings on the edges, be it for parkland, yardspace, plazas, or markets. The town has a defencive wall made from querried stone. The wall is equipped with a full set of battlments but the nature of its construction methodology leaves it somewhat vulnerable to siege equipment. That said, the town is well defended against anything short of an army. The town's cost-cutting-focused defences are visibly old, but also obviously maintained semi-regularly. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with ocasional mantance of the towns defences.

A look around Māshzbeiē̼ Se gives you an uneasy feeling. Everything is just a little too worn down, a little too dirty, or both. No one makes eye contact. Kids play quietly, but happily. Occasionally a passerby glances at you out of the corner of their eye, staring jsut long enough for it to be uncomfortable. People seem to be allowed to do as they please with little harmoney to anything. It feels less like a town, and more like a spot people just happened to place their homes.

Civic Infrastructure

Māshzbeiē̼ Se possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Large Town. Māshzbeiē̼ Se's grid is powered by an arcane means.

Māshzbeiē̼ Se has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Māshzbeiē̼ Se's natural decorations nor waterways.

Māshzbeiē̼ Se has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Māshzbeiē̼ Se's town hall was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is known for its fluid and florid elaborate style, comprising ornate, asymmetric designs and pastel shades. It is often considered to be a playful, light style, which made exuberant use of curves and emphasized subtle asymmetry in the general shape of its structures. Walls, ceilings and moldings are decorated with numerous interlacing of curves and counter-curves based on the shapes of ‘C’ and ‘S’, along with shell forms and other naturalistic shapes.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century, Māshzbeiē̼ Se was attacked by soldiers from another nation, waging a greater campaign. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Māshzbeiē̼ Se lost 285 people, 271 livestock, and 62 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 61, when members of Māshzbeiē̼ Se's militia enacted an operation to scout a specific location for information about a particular bridge. The operation was complicated by an outbreak of plague which struck the ranks, killing many and laying low many more. The conflict ended with pitched battle between both forces, which ended in defeat for Māshzbeiē̼ Se's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Māshzbeiē̼ Se's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
